I remember while growing up, my grandma Faigl would always take pictures of us grandkids. She would always have our school photos displayed on the wall. I’d like to think we were all her pride and joy.
I never really wondered why until one day, before she passed, she handed me a photo album. In it were photos of my entire childhood. Memories from being born til after I had my own two babies. She was preserving memories for all us grandkids. We each got an album from her. Though some photos seem to be missing now, I appreciate that album so much.
Reasons Why You Should Take Photos
As I get older I find I forget more and more of the past. I forget what our loved ones looked like.
I love this album!
I get to see photos of my siblings, my parents when they were young and my grandparents from their younger years.
I get the chance to remember the past...
I get to remember how little we used to be and reminisce for just awhile.
I get to remember playing with cousins and spending days and weekends hanging out at grandma and grandpa's house.
I get to remember my cousin who is no longer with us, as well as, my grandparents.
Here are some reasons why you should have photos taken every year...
Families grow and change so fast. Yearly photos capture changes in our lives. They capture who you are at this point in time.
Photographers have a super power. WE FREEZE TIME.
Past experiences continually form us and we should record these life moments.
You are not just taking photos, you are leaving memories for future generations!
You may not care or even like the photos of you, but your grandchildren and great grandchildren will love that they have photos of you. They deserve these photos! They deserve to have photos of you to reminisce over to bring back memories they have with you. To be able to think back and find feelings of joy, love and even peace...peace from the 'Good ole Days'.
You never know when the last chance for a family photo will be...
Life is short and unpredictable. Unfortunately things can happen without warning and loved ones may pass unexpectedly.
Never regret putting it off later.
Too often we can forget about our past. We can forget how cute our children were when they were little. Before you know it they are off to college or getting married and having children of their own.
It is important to document their growth and how our families have changed.
My wonderful, crazy, goofy and lovable family!
I am extremely grateful for the thoughtfulness my grandma put into photo albums for all 7 of her grandchildren.
